What’s your role?
I’m a developer with IDR leading one of our development squads. We work with colleagues across the business to identify technology based solutions which help to improve the investor onboarding process for our clients. We’ve named all our development squads after beaches, so my squad’s name is Boulders – which is a beach in South Africa.
What is it like to work at IDR?
It’s a very co-operative and friendly working environment at IDR. Everyone is really helpful and easy to reach out to. Although I’m working remotely it feels like I’m in an office. We’re a global team; I’m based in Bangladesh and work with colleagues in Mauritius, Cape Town and Guernsey.
What is your background?
I am a Fullstack Developer with more than 15 years’ experience in .Net technologies. I’ve worked on various domains and several large-scale web applications. I completed a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering and since then I’ve been involved in software development. Over my career I’ve gained experience in sectors including telecoms, marketing operations and digital asset management.
What’s been your biggest accomplishment at IDR so far?
Tax reporting is an important part of how we help our clients. I’ve done a lot of work on the tax (FATCA) and KYC components in the IDR app. It was particularly exciting to see how my development work enhanced XML (the standard FATCA reporting schema) report generation for our clients over the most recent tax reporting season.
What is the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
If you want to learn something, don’t hurry; have patience and stick with it.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I’ve got two wonderful kids and in my spare time I love spending time with my family.
