What is it like to work at IDR?
It’s a fun working environment. Our squad works collaboratively across the business in different functions and offices spread across Europe, Africa and Asia. The great thing about working in a global team is that I get to work with people with very diverse skills and backgrounds. The amount of effort you put in to delivering your work is recognised and rewarded. The work-life balance is also great!

What is your background?
I’ve acquired five years of experience as a Full Stack Developer, across the FinTech, Fund Management and Financial Services sectors.  I have also worked in a range of programming languages including .Net, Angular, SQL, Oracle. I graduated with my BSc in Software Engineering in 2017.

What’s been your biggest accomplishment at IDR so far?
IDR is growing fast and I was among one of the first developers to join the team. Early on I was given the opportunity to take the lead on a project to roll out a new User Interface (UI). It was exciting to work on the launch of the revamped application. I was particularly proud to see the positive reactions from both our clients and our team when they started using the new UI

What was the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
I was once told “Nothing grows inside one’s comfort zone” and I’ve applied this to my career. IDR has given me the opportunity to challenge myself, both as a developer and a person. I have gained exposure to both people and project management. I’ve also honed my analysis skills, enabling me to spot opportunities to improve the application and develop workable solutions.

What do you do when you’re not working?
I like to go trail running believe it or not running 15km up a mountain helps me to relax and recharge! It is really energising and comes with a sense of adventure. It is even better when running with friends as it makes the whole experience sociable and more fun, which is why I participate in and help organise local trail events.
